Liz and Jeff decided that, with their children grown and out of the house, it was time to have a dog join their family.  After browsing for dogs online, Liz found Tyler listed on the Living Free website.  She and Jeff decided to come meet him and instantly fell in love.  On August 1, 2020, Tyler went home with them.

Tyler did not have an easy start to life, which is what made his adoption so special for our kennel staff. He was first rescued from a shelter in 2016. Back then, Tyler was a young dog just trying to find his place in the world. He was adopted after only a few months at the sanctuary. However, after 4 years, Tyler was returned to Living Free at the start of 2020.

Tyler was always affectionate and charming.  The kennel staff knew he would make a great companion for someone. He just wanted to be your pal – whether it’s going on a hike or hanging out in the home, he was looking to spend quality time with people. And, as it turns out, Liz and Jeff were looking for a dog just like Tyler.

Liz shares, “Right away Tyler took to both of us and loved being with us.  He is such a good boy.  If I am gone for a while, he waits by the door for me.  Or, if my husband is the one that must go on an errand, he waits at the door for him.  He’s a softy at heart and a wonderful addition to our family.”

“Our routine begins in the morning with Tyler waking us up to take him outside.  Around mid-morning we go for a long walk.  When we come back from the walk, Tyler loves to play ball.  He likes us to throw the ball, but instead of bringing it back, he will hold the ball with both his paws, then toss it in the air and catch it.  He will do this several times and then drop the ball for us to throw again.  I call this Tyler dribbling his own ball.”

“Tyler doesn’t care for other dogs, but really loves people.  He will let anyone approach him and pet him.  He loves our son who comes for visits from time to time.  If he hears anyone at the door he will bark.  When he hears a siren, he puts his head in the air and howls like a real bloodhound.”

“Tyler loves to travel in the car and has made several trips back and forth from our home here in Palm Springs and the home we have in Arizona.  Tyler knows a few tricks:  he will roll over on his back for belly rubs; play dead and give us a high five for treats.  He is a wonderful companion, and we are enjoying him very much.

Liz and Jeff, we love to hear these wonderful success stories.  Thank you for loving Tyler and for giving him such a wonderful home.  It looks like he is living the good life!
