Beau was adopted on September 5, 2020 by Joshua Smith and his daughter Alexis.  Alexis was visiting California and was on the lookout for a special companion dog. She and her Dad visited Living Free after seeing Beau’s photos on the website.  She was immediately drawn to Beau and decided he needed to come home with her.

Following the adoption, Alexis, who goes by Lexi, returned to her home in South Carolina with Beau in tow. It took some adjusting for Beau, who grew up in the desert of Southern California, to get used to life on the East Coast. Prior to his adoption, Beau could be a little shy around new people. He grew very attached to Lexi and, with her help, he has started to open up more. Lexi explained, “Beau is very calm and gets along with other people now. He is not as shy as he used to be.”

Lexi also shared, “He likes to chill on my bed with me and is now used to everyone in the family, even my cat, Gucci.  Beau does some little tricks.  He will stand on his hind legs and spin around when I show him a treat. He loves his toys and belly rubs. I love Beau and he is extremely attached to me. I am so glad to have him in my life.”

As much as Lexi has helped Beau flourish, Beau has in turn helped Lexi. Lexi’s mom, Meghann shared: “We are so blessed to have Beau, he has saved my daughter’s life and we thank you for this. He has become an emotional support dog for Lexi and was just what she needed to help her cope when things get difficult. He has really changed her life. We love Beau so much.”

Dogs comfort us and make our days more bearable. They instinctively know how to help us through difficult times. Beau has been giving his unconditional love to Lexi, who has needed some support. Lexi, we are happy Beau is enjoying the good life with you and that you are sharing your love with him. Thank you for adopting Beau. We wish you many more happy years together.
