For several years Daniel and Jane Yeatts have been frequent visitors to the Idyllwild area. When they discovered Living Free, they always made a point to visit the cats. Jane is an avid cat lover, having had cats all her life. In March of 2019, while visiting the cats at Living Free, they decided it was time to adopt a kitten.  Creamcake, who is now called Tavi, was the lucky kitten that would fit very nicely into their family of four cats.

Daniel shared, “When we got Tavi, he was by far the youngest of our four cats at that time. He couldn’t play with the older ones as they were a bit too old for that kitten type of energy.  Most of the time they gave Tavi the old ‘go away, kid, ya bother me’, kind of attitude”.

“Tavi is a lover, not a fighter.  He has a cute little motor-hum when he meows or purrs.  When he plays chase with the other cats he never hisses or swipes at them.  While we are preparing food, Tavi will sit on a nearby bar stool just waiting to get bits of any food that might come his way.  He loves to snuggle in the morning for hours with his humans and he also enjoys a game of whack-a-mole.”

In July of 2020, Daniel and Jane decided to add another kitten to their brood.  They came home from Living Free with Miss Rainbow who became Asha.  Daniel shared, “Asha had an easier time adjusting to her new home.  She had Tavi and our other kitten, Cypher, to help her adjust.  She is the cutest little ball of energy.  She bolts here and there and loves to chase the red laser dot.”

“Asha is by far the happiest cat when it’s time for food. She will howl her tiny lungs out when she sees us bringing the food to her bowl.  She gets so excited she headbutts the scoop out of the way before we can get all the food into her bowl.  Asha is also a smarty.  She figured out how to open our cat-food containers and taught the others how to do it as well.  As a result, we had to get new containers that are kitten proof.”

Daniel went on to say, “We love Tavi and Asha.  They are good kittens, and we have enough love to go around for our little family of five cats.  Without them in our lives, we would be missing out on the love they have to give. They add a little bit of spirit to our home.  When we see them sleeping comfortably it reminds us about that part that is good in the world.  We hope more people will adopt these wonderful animals.”

Daniel and Jane, we cannot thank you enough for the loving home you have given not only to Tavi and Asha, but your other cats, Zephyr, Cypher and Sophie. You have not only been generous with your love for these cats, but your monthly donations to Living Free is making it possible to rescue and find homes for other cats and dogs. We thank you so much for your love and devotion to these deserving animals.
