Meet our horses:

At Living Free Animal Sanctuary, our equine rescue efforts are deeply rooted in saving America’s wild mustangs from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) holding facilities, where thousands of these iconic horses face uncertain futures. Once symbols of freedom, mustangs are now caught in a cycle of roundups and confinement, losing the very landscapes they once roamed.

Our stables began in 2015 with a rescued mustang named Libby and three donkeys—Jasmine, Eeyore, and Donald. Through Libby’s rehabilitation, we witnessed firsthand the incredible resilience of these animals, sparking the idea to create an equine therapy program for Veterans called War Horse Creek. Since then, our program has expanded to include First Responders, youth programs, and private individual sessions with a licensed therapist.

Horses, by nature, are deeply intuitive beings, making them extraordinary partners in healing. Whether mustangs, domestic horses, or donkeys, each of our equine residents brings a unique personality and gift to the herd. Together, they help us foster transformation, offering a mirror to the human soul and guiding participants on a journey of trust, confidence, and renewal.

Our herd is comprised of a mixture of rescued and privately owned equines (several which were adopted from Living Free!) - but all of them participate in our equine therapy programs.
